Before going on holiday at the seaside with your children, you must first make sure that they are well equipped for the activities planned to ensure their comfort and safety. Two types of lifejackets for children exist for two different types of activities and functional aspects. Before choosing a lifejacket for your child, you should ask yourself the right questions: "which lifejacket will best ensure their safety according to my program?", "which one will be the most comfortable and adapted to my child's size and weight?" and "which child's lifejacket will best fit my budget?

Reminder of the regulations: article 240-2.01 - 6 of Division 240 specifies that "On board ships, craft and pleasure boats subject to the carriage of personal buoyancy equipment (PBE), children weighing no more than 30 kg have a PBE of 100 N of buoyancy, whatever the distance from a shelter."

The classic foam vest

On the one hand the foam vest, this great classic still stands up well on the market and has many advantages, it ensures high safety thanks to its collar that supports the head, its bright color, its subcutaneous and its lifting handle. It is also the most suitable for all activities where you are in contact with water such as paddle, light sailing, kayaking or even beach games. It is the equipment that will ensure the most safety for your children under 8 years. Its major asset is its very competitive price starting at 30 euros.

The efficient self-inflating vest

The second type of vest is the self-inflating vest, its main characteristic is its comfort: it is very light, takes up little space, offers great freedom of movement and is therefore quickly forgotten. It has a loop to attach a harness lanyard, accessories such as marker lights, a knife or a whistle. The self-inflating vest is therefore ideal for activities such as cruising where contact with water is rare but safety requires it. It is an equipment intended for children over 8 years old or 40 kilos with good physical conditions. The price for the latter starts at about 80 euros depending on the brand.
