Cras navigation rules

The Cras rule is by far the most widely used navigation instrument in France as it has been used for almost 100 years by the French Navy and the Merchant Navy. The Cras ruler is used in maritime navigation or for pleasure boating, both in coastal and offshore navigation and even in the case of astronomical navigation in addition to the sextant. Professional sailors and skippers choose this easy and practical tool to plot and measure a course on the nautical chart and to take bearings taken on the landmarks with the compass. Made up of two inverted plotters, the Cras rule is used for measuring and plotting routes and bearings. The principle of use is simple, on a meridian or a parallel, it is necessary to align the center of the plotter the most "southern" on the map with the angle of the road to be traced or measured. Picksea offers 6 models of Cras Rules from its Flash-Tide Instruments brand which are distinguished by the colours of the graduations (black, bicolour red and black or tricolour red, black and green) or by the design of the rule. What differentiates our cras rules from competing models is that they all include features to facilitate reading and use on the chart: these models are exclusive and registered by Picksea.
