A vintage look, the yellow raincoat is back!

Whether it's for its vintage look or simply for its exceptional waterproofing and durability properties, the raincoat is back in force as rainwear on pontoons as well as in town or in the countryside. Existing in several thicknesses for professional use, the raincoat has been democratized and has left the fishing boats where it was originally conceived 50 years ago, to arrive in its softer, lighter and more colorful version and a daily use as a fashionable rain jacket.

The brands that equip commercial fishing professionals have all focused on a range adapted to leisure use as rainwear for women, men or children. The French company Guy Cotten, which invented the famous yellow Breton foulies, is the reference in France and has made them its logo. Its ISODER GLENTEX leisure jacket, priced at 59 euros, offers a wide range of colours and sizes in a unisex version, at a very reasonable price.

Its cut, on the other hand, inherited from the professional versions (very wide waist) is not very well adapted to small sizes and especially women. There is however a child version (Derby Waxed Child) from 2 years to 12 years in three colors and which offers a great rainwear puncture-proof at an unbeatable value for money.

A rainwear more and more urban ?

The Scandinavians from Grundéns offer a new range of rainwear for men and women with much more fitted cuts with the brand new SANDON range, and in particular the Sandon coat completed with the Sandon hat waterproof bob which is available for women and men in 4 or 5 original colours. This raincoat, positioned at around 95 euros, is more fitted and more elegant when worn as an everyday raincoat because it was designed for a wider public than just pleasure boaters and leisure fishermen.

Beware of the extremely waterproof oilskin!

The women's rain jacket can be used for a wide range of purposes, from walking in the rain to everyday use such as going to work by public transport or electric bike. Note that this rainwear is perfectly waterproof in both directions! This means that the water vapour emitted by the body also remains trapped under the rain jacket and it is possible that it condenses on the inside of the jacket. it is therefore recommended not to use this type of raincoat or jacket when you are involved in intense physical activity (cycling, running, sports activities) because the body's perspiration and heat will remain trapped and your raincoat will be uncomfortable to wear, in oven mode. In this case, you should choose waterproof AND breathable clothing, which is more modern and more expensive due to the technology used.
