It all starts in 1911...

... Carl A. Grunden, a fisherman's son, decided to start an oil clothing factory in Grundsund, Sweden. Shortly afterwards, in 1914, Carl was forced to stop production due to the shortage of the First World War. But this fisherman's son was not someone who gave up easily. So in 1926 he started again and resumed the production. Since that year, Grundens has been developing and manufacturing rainwear and marine clothing for professionals.

Grundens une histoire de pro

The pioneer of professional marine clothing

In the 1930s, Grundens introduced rubberised fabric as the basic material for its rainwear. This made the clothing more comfortable and durable over time. After many developments in the textile industry, Grundéns decided to use PVC-coated fabrics in 1950. Grundens was right, because today these fabrics are the most widely used in the manufacture of professional marine clothing because they are extremely durable under the most difficult conditions. Grundens has the world's best-selling and thickest oilskin. PVC-coated cotton weighing 610 grams, a real armour against the elements, the well-named Hercules.
