Coastal Salopettes
For coastal navigation and day trips in mid-season or in summer, you will need a simple salopette whose main characteristic will be waterproofness. Indeed, it will be mainly a question of having a garment capable of protecting you against rain and spray, but also against wind.
CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING A SALOPETTE FOR COASTAL NAVIGATION
The quality of the fabric: depending on how intensively the salopettes are used, it will be necessary to pay attention to the quality of the fabric. Indeed, as this type of salopettes generally has only one waterproof layer, the fabric must not be too sensitive to rubbing or cuts. Thus at Guy Cotten, there are two types of waterproof fabric: the glentex with only one layer of PVC for occasional use, while the cap coz which is stronger, has several layers of PVC and is suitable for more intensive use.
Setting options and the adaptation to the morphology: even if they are simple salopettes, they must nevertheless have elastic or adjustable straps in order to adapt perfectly to the morphology of each sailor.
Waterproofing of the feet: The primary function of a coastal sailing salopette is to be watertight and waterproof, so it must have an effective fastening system for the feet which must be adjustable (elastic or Velcro) in order to adapt to different types of shoes or boots.
