The 3-layer technology known as "membranes" corresponds to a more intensive use on boats for offshore cruising, ocean racing or regular use for professionals in the nautical industry. The properties of the membrane (Gore Tex, Dremtech+ or other similar names) allow for a very high level of breathability and waterproofing over time. Indeed, the membrane, when properly maintained (regular rinsing of salt deposits), keeps its breathable properties over 5 to 10 years depending on the use. These watch jackets are the ones used by skippers in ocean races such as the Vendée Globe, the Ocean Race and the Route du Rhum.
Cuts adapted to high seas sailing
Men's or women's offshore watch jackets have a high collar into which a brightly colored hood (often fluorescent yellow) is inserted with different adjustments to adapt to the morphology of each person's face and to the wearing of a hat or hood. These offshore jackets also feature reflective strips that are particularly useful for finding a crew member who has fallen into the water at night and various pockets, some of which are equipped with fleece or acrylic fur to keep hands warm.
